KIT entrepreneurial spirit at CeBIT 2016

In 2016, the CeBIT was once again held in Hanover with strong participation by KIT. This year’s motto of the event, “Discover d!conomy – the digital transformation has arrived!”, explored the question of how digital technologies will simplify business processes and everyday life in the future. The main topics were “Big Data”, “Cloud”, “Internet of Things”, “Mobile”, “Industry 4.0” and “Work 4.0”.

Especially the large number of KIT spin-offs clearly demonstrated the position of the Institute in research and the transfer of knowledge between society and the business world. A total of eleven start-up teams from KIT and one FZI team took the opportunity to present their products and services to a broad audience and discuss solutions to current changes with the trade fair visitors.

Concretely realizing Industry 4.0 – That’s where it’s at!

An event of the venture forum neckar e.V. in cooperation with the Sparkasse Heilbronn on September 30, 2015 was to provide answers to the question of which challenges businesses will be faced with in the future and how they can be tackled. The continuously advancing digitalization of production processes and the increased networking of different production locations via the Internet, two big themes under the umbrella term Industry 4.0, often require rethinking, especially for medium-sized companies.

For startups, it is also important to deal with the topic of Industry 4.0 from the beginning. Many processes must be coordinated from the start in collaboration with customers and cooperation partners. The event offered a platform for recognizing the needs of startups, cooperation partners in industry, and investors/financiers early on in order to address them.

A total of four startup teams/startups from the KIT were exhibitors at the event. Three of them presented themselves in a pitch (12 in total) to the investors/financiers and potential cooperation partners with great success. All in all, the event was well attended by approx. 200 participants and approx. 20 startup teams.

Below, we highlight the three main evaluation criteria – which we will discuss in detail in the founder consultation with the teams. Continue reading

X-MATCH 2014 – The end-of-year-party for all founders at the KIT

In keeping of a good tradition, “X-Match” took place on December 15th – the end-of-the-year-party for all company founders and those interested in founding a company at the KIT. Apart from culinary highlights, an exciting framing program concerning the topic of “startup finance” was offered in the usual Christmassy atmosphere in the house of the guest lecturers on the Southern Campus.

With a total of 60 founders, Dr. Andrea Nestl, Dr. Eric Braun, and Dr. Rolf Blattner of the KIT Innovation Management, as well as Ralph Henn of the Center for Entrepreneurship (CIE), the X-MATCH 2014 has grown yet again – a success among the events of the KIT Founders Forge.
