Prototypes are a thing of the past. With the software platform “Cross Connected” from Rüdenauer 3D Technology GmbH, mechatronic processes can be simulated and visualized in real-time as high-end 3D graphics. This makes it possible for businesses to virtually develop and optimize machine and system solutions and to experience these solutions interactively. The software can be used in the areas of product development, e-learning, sales, and service. In an interview, we asked Rüdenauer 3D Technology about the idea, startup time, and future prospects.

KITcrowd – Crowdfunding for startups
As part of the Founders Forge, the KIT already offers students and scientific employees a wide array of offerings for startup promotion, for instance with consulting, coaching, and seminars. In March, we launched the KIT crowdfunding platform KITcrowd in order to offer KIT founders an additional financing opportunity. Since the launch of the platform, six startup projects and startups have presented themselves. Three of these were successful and able to advance their ideas. More about KITcrowd
A motive for KIT startup teams at upCAT
Twice a year, prospective founders have the opportunity to intensely work on their startup at the KIT accelerator upCAT. An initial idea develops into a concrete business model in three months – supported by entrepreneurial know-how, coaches, and mentors. The Demo Day in March was a complete success. All teams were able to excite the audience of investors and network partners and received valuable feedback on their business cases. On December 7th, 2014, the next round of upCAT will begin! Three minutes – about the duration of an elevator ride – that is the time frame available for founders and young entrepreneurs at the Elevator Pitch BW to present their business idea. Ten startup teams rose to the preliminary regional challenge. Two KIT teams won over the jury and about 100 listeners with their poised presentations.
INDMATEC GmbH has specialized in 3D printing for high-performance polymers and the relevant materials. With their patented technology, they are pioneers in 3D manufacturing technology according to the principle of “fused filament fabrication” (FFF) in combination with the high-performance polymer polyether ether ketone, abbreviated PEEK. The material is especially appealing for the automotive, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and semiconductor industries. This year’s KIT Venture Fest on 06/30/2015 ignited the Opel Innovation Day in cooperation with the KIT Founders Forge. Representatives of Adam Opel AG were guests this summer and experienced the ‘startup spirit’ at the KIT for a day. In particular, the enthusiastic pitches of the KIT founders left a lasting impression. Thus, the idea arose to organize the established Opel Innovation Day with a startup focus. Startup teams of the KIT and the TU Darmstadt were invited to the Opel headquarters in Ruesselsheim in order to present their business ideas. Together with Opel, a total of eight KIT startups in the automotive sector and related industries were selected for the Opel Innovation Day. Continue reading
