In keeping of a good tradition, “X-Match” took place on December 15th – the end-of-the-year-party for all company founders and those interested in founding a company at the KIT. Apart from culinary highlights, an exciting framing program concerning the topic of “startup finance” was offered in the usual Christmassy atmosphere in the house of the guest lecturers on the Southern Campus.
With a total of 60 founders, Dr. Andrea Nestl, Dr. Eric Braun, and Dr. Rolf Blattner of the KIT Innovation Management, as well as Ralph Henn of the Center for Entrepreneurship (CIE), the X-MATCH 2014 has grown yet again – a success among the events of the KIT Founders Forge.
The evening started with a stand-up reception – a first opportunity to get to know each other in the foyer of the Heinrich-Hertz-House. Rolf Blattner then started the official part of the evening with a review of the very successful year 2014. Ten EXIST business start-up grants, started or first approved in 2014 as well as 13 continuing or newly approved “Young Innovators” were celebrated.
After the first course, Dr. Matthias Klaften, CEO of amcure GmbH, showed how long the path of a bio tech startup can be from the first invention report to the successful financing round. Due to his many years of experience with public founding support programs as well as public and private investors, he was able to provide many tips in the following very lively discussion.
Between main course and dessert, Dr. Eric Braun presented the new financing tool KITCrowd to the participants. KITCrowd offers a platform for founding projects, research projects, and other project ideas eligible for support to raise additional funds for the realization of their undertaking and especially to awaken wide public attention. The new crowd funding platform KITcrowd, which is the KIT’s own platform and will be online as of Q1/2015, was received with a very high level of interest from the “X-MATCH Crowd”.
After dessert, very lively discussions in varying small groups were held into the morning hours, networks were expanded, and many valuable experiences were exchanged between the founders. A nice finish for the founding year 2014.
The team of the founding consultants at the KIT says THANK YOU for a great year 2014!
